Tewkesbury

A Beautiful

Riverside Town

Welcome to our extraordinary riverside town. We look forward to making you welcome!

To get a full appreciation of the town’s local history, visit the Heritage Centre and use state of the art portable guides and interactive games to take you from the earliest settlers, through the Wars of the Roses, the Civil War, the industrial revolution and into the present day.

There are more fascinating finds at the Town Museum, hosted in one of only two surviving 17th Century houses in Tewkesbury. A visit to the John Moore Museum will reveal an extensive natural history collection featuring specimens of the mammals and birds native to our countryside, woodlands, wetlands and farmland.

A walk further along the Vintage & Antiques Trail will take you along Church Street and Barton Street where you can explore Tewkesbury's famous network of alleyways and the medieval old town.

High Street Shopping

From there, head to the High Street where you'll find an eclectic mix of shops to explore ranging from familiar brand names to specialist independent retailers who will be more than happy to share their expertise and help you find exactly what you’re looking for.

When it’s time for a drink and a bite to eat, there is an extensive choice of cafes, tea rooms, pubs, take-aways and restaurants.

Don't forget to try our world famous Tewkesbury Mustard! It has been used for centuries to add a fiery kick to a host of savoury dishes.

For the drama and entertainment of the stage and screen, take time to visit the Roses Theatre located in the heart of the town

For more family fun seek out Tewkesbury Leisure centre with its 2 swimming pools, gym and indoor climbing wall. On the outskirts of Tewkesbury you'll discover Sherdons pirate Adventure Golf course and only 1 1/2 miles away Croft Farm Water Leisure park

All year round in Tewkesbury there is a wide range of events including weekly market, annual Food & Drink Festival, the renowned Medieval Festival, popular Mop Fair as well as host of vintage festivals, sporting events and celebrations.

To make the most of your time with us, why not extend your visit?  There are plenty of places to stay in Tewkesbury to suit all tastes and budgets including hotels, guest houses, bed & breakfasts, self-catering cottages and camping & caravan sites.

Tewkesbury is a very dog friendly town.  It is a wonderful location for you to enjoy walks with your dog.  Additionally, they are warmly welcomed into many shops, cafes, pubs and bed & breakfasts.  Make sure to bring your dog along when you explore the historic town.

Tewkesbury’s central location at junction 9 of the M5 motorway, good road, rail and coach links also make it a great base to tour the area. Within striking distance are the rolling landscape and honey-coloured houses of the Cotswolds, the classic countryside of the Malvern Hills that so inspired the composer Elgar and the ancient woodland of the Forest of Dean, once loved as a rich hunting ground by the Tudor Kings.
