Tewkesbury is blessed with glorious countryside surrounding the town. With the River Severn and River Avon meeting in Tewkesbury, many of the walking routes trace the waters’ edge and provide the perfect setting to see the town from a different perspective.
There’s the opportunity to explore the River Avon more closely with a boat trip from Tewkesbury to the nearby village of Twyning.
For the chance to learn more about Tewkesbury’s wildlife and the species that thrive in a wetland habitat, take a trip to the Nature Reserve. You can often see the resident heron (if it doesn’t spot you first) as well as dozens of other birds including kingfishers, reed warblers and swans.
Getting around Tewkesbury by bike is increasingly popular and the town is on the National Cycle network. There are plenty of steeper inclines nearby including Bredon Hill and Cleeve Hill for some off-road two-wheeled adventure.
When you’ve had your fill of the great outdoors, head to the Roses Theatre. As Tewkesbury’s arts centre at the heart of the town, the varied programme includes plays, live comedy, music, workshops and the latest films.
The Rivers Avon and Severn provide excellent fishing with a large variety of fish including Barbel, Bream, Carp, Chub, Dace, Perch, Pike, Roach and Rudd.
