Jo Durrant presents a talk looking at the cross section of arts and science. She explores the lives of some of the famous as well as the less well-known polymaths – people who drew on a range of artistic and scientific subjects to solve problems.
As well as the likes of Leonardo Da Vinci, you can expect to meet mathematician Fibonacci, who gave us the Fibonacci Sequence which is used in computer science, but also seen in nature and art; botanist Anna Atkins, most likely the first female photographer, and Hildegard of Bingen, who was a composer, medical writer, and philosopher in the Middle Ages.
Jo will also talk about some of the guests she’s interviewed on her podcast ‘Jo Durrant’s Beautiful Universe’ who combine both arts and science in their work.
