550th Anniversary walk Tewkesbury Battlefield

Sunday 2 May

May 02nd

Advance booking required

This year, the Anniversary Walk will take on a slightly different format. Starting at 10:00am from the Abbey Ground steps in the Abbey car park on Gander Lane we will walk back through the battlefield and onto an elevated position giving a view of both Yorkist and Lancastrian positions. We will break for coffee at the Gupshill Inn, a small manor house at the time of the battle. We will then walk back into the battlefield to trace the Duke of Somerset’s ambush attempt. We will then take the route of the Lancastrian army back via the Bloody Meadow and to the Abbey where many claimed sanctuary.

The walk covers approximately 4 miles and crosses several stiles. Please allow 3 -4 hours for the complete walk.

The cost for the walk is £10 per head to include refreshments at the Gupshill.

Due to Covid regulations places are limited. To reserve a place please contact us via the website.
